BY-ELECTION
Nomination date has been set for January 27th, 2014 with the by-election being held on Monday, February 24, 2014. .

PUBLIC WORKS
On behalf of our residents, the words “Thank You” do not seem adequate for the tireless work you have spent to keep our streets clear of snow after the large dumps of snow. Anyone who has travelled to surrounding municipalities knows that our streets are maintained the best during the winter. Please make an effort to say thanks to the guys for a job well done. Hopefully, Mother Nature will cooperate over the Christmas season and give you all a well-deserved rest!!

We are also asking all residents who have their vehicles parked on the streets to please move them during any storm to facilitate quicker clearing of the snow. Your cooperation would be most appreciated.

CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS
As the Bentley Firefighters Foundation have disbanded, they will not be spear-heading the Canada Day celebrations for 2014. If your family has attended this function in past years, you know the wonderful turn-out we receive. Council would like community groups (and individuals) to come together and work as one to continue this celebration. Please – any organization and individuals within our urban and rural area – indicate your interest and Council will facilitate a planning meeting early in the New Year. With many hands sharing the work, we can make this happen without a lot of time commitment. The Firefighters started a wonderful celebration for our community – let’s carry it on. Contact any Council member to let them know you or your group are interested.

BENTLEY’S 100TH ANNIVERSARY
In 2015, Bentley will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary. Council are looking for volunteers (both urban and rural) to help with the planning. This is a community-driven celebration with funds available that have been set aside the past few years to help with expenses. Forward your name to any Council member indicating your interest in being on the organizing committee. The date of the celebration will be determined very soon. Keep watching this newsletter for further information.
